Den internasjonale organisasjonen for
migrasjon (IOM) er en ledende mellomstatlig organisasjon innen arbeidet
for å fremme medmenneskelige løsninger på utfordringer rundt migrasjon.
IOM støtter prinsippet om at human og
ryddig migrasjon er til det beste for både migrantene og samfunnet.
IOM gjennomfører sine prosjekter i
samarbeid med norske myndigheter og frivillige organisasjoner. Det
norske kontoret ble etablert i 2002 og ligger i Oslo.

Greeting addressed by Norway's justice
ministry state secretary, Pål Lønseth
- I would like to thank Mr. Polosa and his IOM office for this
invitation to observe, together, the international migrants’ day. I
don’t think most Norwegians are aware that today is in fact the
migrants’ day and they do not know what the day signifies. Mr. Polosa
is, I understand, about to create an annual tradition here in Oslo,
